Suggest Treatment For Back Pain And Feeling Of Bowel Movement While Dancing

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Mar 2015
Question: My 16y daughter has been complaining of back pain on and off for about 5-6 months. Xrays were done and show a mild curvature (see attachments) her pediatric NP has scheduled her for PT. I was wondering if i should see a specialist, if something this mild is typically braced? And what does "may be texhnical" mean. Also she is a competitive dancer and in the last few weeks she has had the urge to have a bowel movement while dancing and inwondered if something like this could cause that? I would apprecaite any guidance that yoi may have to offer. Thank you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Physical therapy and spinal traction mainstay of treatment

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the reports. It seems that your daughter has some changes in her lower back and that explains the source of the pain that she is having. Giving her physical therapy and possibly traction of spine, should help. You should see an orthopedician for the same. Medicines can only provide symptomatic relief.

I do not think that the urge for bowel movement during her dance sessions is due to stress and unrelated to this condition.

The mentioned term means that although a portion of the T6 spine is not clearly visualized, it is more likely to be due to some technical reasons like difference in exposure or printing but unrelated to any anatomical abnormalities.

Hope that helps.
