Suggest Treatment For Arthritis And Left Kidney Pain

default
Posted on Thu, 18 May 2017
Question: Additional Questions to urologists. I went to my excellent urologist and he ordered xrays for 2 issues bladder atone ( tech did not know what this was and skipped it) and spine xrays of me bending slightly forward to see if arthritis is affecting the left kidney pain. I have a spinal fusion
T3 to L5 with 2 Harrington rods from 1977. I don,t understand all this.
With the left kidney pain and sometimes not being able to pee, I feel my body is making kidney gravel which usually takes 2 1/2 months. Mid May, dr. Will do ultrasound and see me again. He did catheterize me at last week,s visit which felt better.
Thank you very kindly.

Detailed Answer:
hello
Thanks for query .Based on the facts that you have posted I would summarize your problem.

You have undergone surgery of spinal fusion in 1977 and now facing problem of pain in Left Renal Area which could be due to REnal stone Disease or Spine issue .Hence your Urologist has asked for
1) X Ray of KUB (Kidney Ureter and Bladder ) to rule out any possibility of stone as a cause of pain in Renal area .
2) X-Ray of the Thoraco Lumbar spine to rule out any degenerative changes in Vertebra or prolapse of Inter Vertebral Disc as a cause of pain .

The difficulty in passing urine that you had is most likely to be due to Urethral Stenosis which is very common in females at this age .

Your Urologist will assess the cause for your symptoms after going through all the necessary tests and may decide to do endoscopic examination of bladder (Cystoscopy)

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
