Question: Hello, I was hoping to get some answers on why I'm so jumpy. I've been extremely jumpy for about an year now. I had a phase of it about 3 years ago but it passed. A year ago it started back up and hasn't stopped. I jump at everything. A random noise, someone touching me, someone sneezing, someone behind me that I was unaware of being there. It's quite ridiculous and bothersome. I was thinking maybe it was anxiety. I haven't had any traumatic experiences or anything. But everything makes me jump. even a song on my phone that has a loud intro.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
First, the symptoms are indeed suggestive of anxiety disorder.
You Are right there.
However, traumatic experience is not the only cause of anxiety.
There are many other causes- eg hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism.
Its not easy to get it all evaluated on a simple online query.
You ideally need to meet a physician locally.
I still suggest the follows-
Hemoglobin
Thyroid profile
Electrolytes
Fasting sugars.
These are just the basic tests that are needed for the problem.
Best of luck.
