Question: Normal stool, being brown and soft, thought I had a case of constipation 2 weeks ago. Have had a really bad cold with lots of hard coughing the past week, this just started day before yesterday, blood is bright red. Taking a lax as of last night, anus is sore.

Brief Answer:
anal fissure, avoid constipation, Sitz bath, anusol cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM
I have gone through your question.
Based on the information provided by you, it looks like anal fissure. It can be diagnosed by physical exam, that is by looking at the fissure by gently separating the buttocks.

I would suggest you to see doctor to confirm the diagnosis.

Management firstly includes avoiding the constipation for that eat diet rich in fiber, Drink plenty of fluids. Stool softener can be considered if dietary alteration does not help.

Sitz bath 2 to 3 times a day. It soothes the torn tissue and helps relax the internal anal sphincter.

Anusol cream be applied 2 times daily for week. Avoid using tissues, prefer baby wipes.

With the following measures, you should be fine in a week.
Hope this helps.
I'll be glad to address your further queries.
Take care.

If this is a fissure could it be internal?
I have panic attacks and am afraid this is cancer, I have never had this before so I am having attacks because of this

Hi
Good to hear from you

I don't think, it is anything serious. As said earlier by physical examination, it can be confirmed. I would suggest you to relax, not think much, you are fine.
See a doctor once to confirm the diagnosis, it will also help you to relive your anxiety.
Hope this help.
