Brief Answer: Precautions+drugs will minimize allergic episodes Detailed Answer: Hi there, Thanks for your query. There are basically three types of allergies: nasal, intestinal (food allergies) and contact allergy (skin eruptions on coming into contact with an allergic substance. I am sure that the allergy test must have listed food items, drugs and environmental allergens to which your son is allergic to. Therefore, the best approach to minimize allergic reactions is as follows:- 1. Completely avoid foods to which he is allergic to. 2. Avoid humid, polluted, dusty environment, air-conditioned rooms, greenery where there are pollens in abundance. 3. Take regularly anti-allergic drugs, such as, a combination of Levocetirizine (5mg) + Montelukast (10mg) TWICE a day; and, a nasal spray containing Azelastin + a steroid. So, avoidance of allergic foods, pollens and other allergens, along with anti-allergic medications as listed above, will reduce the severity and frequency of allergic episodes to the minimum. Lastly, I presume that you meant your son is infected with molds. If that is the case, a 2-3 weeks' course an anti-fungal drug, such as, Fluconazole 150mg/day would eradicate mold infection. Consult your ER/GP doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and prescribe suitable treatment as advised. Hope I have addressed your concerns to your complete satisfaction and you find my response helpful and informative. I will be happy to answer further queries, if any. Take care, Col (Dr.) Rakesh Karanwal
