Brief Answer:
Allergy reaction due to mushrooms and oyster foods

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome in HCM.

Do not worry .This is an allergic reaction from mushrooms and oyster foods.
As you explain this is the first episode to you which means you did not know that you were allergic.
Given the fact it would be better for you to do a check up for alergies after the situation come back normal again.
I can recommend you as follows:
Prick tests
Total and specific IgE in the blood test
Pneumoallergens in the blood
And after having the results the specialist (allergologist) will probably do to you some tests with several foods that contains the ingredients of mushrooms, oysters or other seafood in order to be sure what is safe for you now and on.
Now for the symptoms to relive you can use inhalers (like Ventoline pufs) several times per day related to your breathing condition and i am sure you will be better. Please consult your doctor and he will know for sure the above tests and will advice you further.
Be careful now and on with the foods.
I wish a fast recovery for you.

I have had throat irritation for over a year. I started with family doctor and after many blood tests that came back negative, he referred me to ENT. ENT ran blood tests and checked out throat, but all negative. Had ct scan of throat and came back with severe stenosis. Prescribed ibuprofen but nothing helped throat issue. ENT was after around 6 to 8 months after issue started. ENT then referred me to neurologist. At first just to check throat issue, but he had no recommendation. Then I started having fasisculations and I started to be concerned that this could be als. I went back to neurologist and he tested my reflexes and strength and both were fine. He said I could rule out als by taking an emg so I decided to do that because of my paranoia. He said I have an abnormality in one calf, but the rest of the test was ok. I am loosing sleep over als possibility and I don t feel I am getting good answer from neurologist. Both of my legs and feet have fasisculations, occasionally get in other areas, arms, buttocks, etc. I don t seem to have any weakness. Any advice

Dear doc, I am 63 years female person. I have regular diabetic type 2 medication and my chlorestral, sugar, thryroid etc under control.

but this the third time I was severly affected and the experience was torchous. I live in Bangalore, recently I went to Chennai were I was severely affected and on 2nd June I visited a doctor who gave me medicine and I had to return from the station on 3rd june, since I had dizziness, severe cough but not temp. I did not eat 2 or 3 days then I met my family doctor after a very long period, he advised to meet an asthma specialist and he also suggested that I may have phlum in my lungs etc.

Could you kindly advise what specialist I should meet, I am registered with St Johns Bangalore.

Hi, I am a 28 year old male with no other health problems and a history of good health. I do not smoke. For about 4 months I have been having strange throat sensations - initially these were a feeling of something stuck in my throat. This feeling stopped and, for about the last month, I have just had a feeling of pressure on my adams apple and glands. As a result of these feelings (particularly when I initially felt something was stuck), I have often been coughing and aggresively clearing my throat, trying to cough up whatever it is that is stuck in my throat (which is probably nothing). The last couple of days, the feeling of something stuck in my throat has returned. Is it possible that I have damaged my epiglottis with all this coughing and that this is now what I am feeling. Is it possible for the epiglottis to not open again after swallowing (therfore blocking the airway itself)? Thank you for your time
