Brief Answer:
PPD allergy and chlorthalidone

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have an allergy to PPD and you are concerned that chlorthalidone may also react because of your PPD allergy. The answer is no. They are tow completely different agents. But you do mention that you were on HCTZ and developed heart palpitations and muscle cramping. Chlorthalidone is of the same family as HCTZ and you can develop the same side effects. So I would caution you on taking chlorthalidone if you had prior problems with HCTZ.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions.

Brief Answer:
Hypertension

Detailed Answer:
If your doctor is considering using the chlorthalidone for blood pressure control there are several other choices. You just not able to use thiazide diuretics. They can use furosemide which is a loop diuretic, there are potassium sparing diuretics like triamterene and androgen receptor blocker like spitonolactone.
