Posted on Fri, 23 Oct 2015
Question: I am feeling these symptoms since almost an year.

The issue was started when: One day i got fever along with motions. On the same day night i drunk great amount of alcohol. From then onwards, fever gone but these symptoms remain with me. I have high cholestrol level in my blood. I used to get stomac pain sometimes and then motions. small (4 to 6) Gall balder polyps are there.

I also noticed that when i took spicy food it is becoming worse. I have contacted several doctors but none of them able to fix the issue. I am very much frustrated now.

Brief Answer:
Possible Alcohol-induced Gastritis-Need UGIE

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through your uploaded reports as well.

You seem to have symptoms that are related directly related to alcohol intake.

The previous episodes of giddiness and tremors are due to effects of alcohol on the brain.

Now the gut symptoms are related to admixed features of gastric erosion and acid reflux.Their possibility is very high.

For an effective treatment, the first and foremost requirement is complete abstinence of alcohol.

The second is a requirement of upper GI endoscopy/UGIE including a test for H.PYLORI which can reliably detect these changes.

Further management is based on the test results.

Meanwhile, I recommend oral tablets of Nexprofast once daily on empty stomach for 21 days. Please check with your physician if he shares this view and if can prescribe them to you.

Asymptomatic gall bladder polyps do not need any removal.

Fatty reversal and elevated cholesterol need statins, which you are already prescribed.Regular brisk walk for 20 min/day is also helpful.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

Great explanation. I didn't see any Physician doing this kind of analysis patiently. Yes, i stopped smoking and drinking (i only intake beer in 99 cases).

1) I am using nexpro 40 MG since last 3 weeks (fasting). I could see some improvement in my gastric issues but i really want to know if this giddiness will also caused by gastric issues?

2) Shall i under go for UGIE (mandatory?). I have undergone for Liver function test and everything was normal.

3) I have started going gym, there a problem with that?

4) Can i use betavert or vertil 16 any time if i see this giddiness engaged me?

5) Do you suggest any best diet considering my case?

i really want to get rid of this problem as it is severely disturbing my job and home life. Whenever i use betavert i could see some relief.

Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
UGIE is mandatory

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand you concern

Giddiness in your case is is due to the influence of alcohol cessation on the brain, but not the gastric issues.

UGIE is mandatory in your case even though LFT is normal.

Visit Gym only when symptoms completely resolve.

Yes, tab vertin can be used on PRN basis in case you feel dizziness.

Avoid fried and fatty food.

Consume oat meal daily for breakfast.

Daily intake of fruits like apple or pomegranate will help.

Thank you
