Suggest Treatment For Alcohol Addiction
confront him indirectly
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concern about health of your husband. From the available description it appears that he relapsed and there is need to intervene as soon as possible and recurrent hepatic damage may be more troublesome and severe in compare to first round of damage.
Ask your husband about the liquor that you found accidentally(if you dare to talk to him in straight way) in your house and try to talk to his close friends. They may be having some clue about his pattern of drinking and duration of relapse.
At the same time at the next visit ask your doctor to repeat his liver profile and ask him random questions like "doctor what will happen to these tests if starts drinking again" ? or "doctor can you know from these tests whether there is ongoing damage to his liver due to alcohol or any other substance ?" These kind of questions will open up discussion and there is possibility that your husband may utter the truth. Once it comes to medical attention without annoying your husband there is possibility the treating doctor will run further tests to confirm the relapse.
I like to tell you that with alcohol relapse is very common and we need not to be critical of the patient. You need to stand by his side as a support so he can go for abstinence without any difficulty.
I hope your query is answered to your satisfaction. If you have nay more query feel free to write back to me. I will be glad to answer you.
Thanks and regards
Dr Ashok Kumar
If he keeps drinking can it kill him by harming his liver all over again?
Thank you, XXXXXXX
Any extent of damage is possible
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for reverting back to me.
If he continues to drink without considering his health, there is possibility of extensive damage to liver and other related organs of body. I should not say that it can kill him, but with prolonged drinking he may land up in similar or very serious disease involving his liver, brain and vascular system.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
Thanks and regards
