Brief Answer:
Adult bed wetting

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your medical concerns

You are 23 years old and having problems with bedwetting. I assume this has been going on for quite sometime. The most common cause of bedwetting is a bladder infection. If she does not have an infection then diabetes could be a cause but again if she is not a diabetic then that is also incorrect.

I also assume that this 23 year old maybe developmentally delayed which may influence her ability to recognize her urge to urinate.

To help reduce bed wetting I recommend the following retraining methods.
1. reduce or eliminate fluids after 6pm
2. urinate just before going to bed at night
3. wake her once at night perhaps around 1-2 in the morning and have her urinate
4. use depends or adult diapers at night

If these measures do not help then she may need medication to help gain control of her bladder. Before she gets started on medication she should see a urologist and have a full urological evaluation to determine if there is any underlying cause for her bedwetting. If there is no other causes then using medication may help. She may need a medication to reduce bladder spasms like bethanechol or fesoterodine. These are medication to reduce bladder spasms or overactive bladder. She may also use DDAVP which is a medication that works on the pituitary gland to help regulate urination. These are some suggestions to help with the bed wetting

In summary
1. Use the above bladder retraining methods
2. Get full urological evaluation Rule out reversible or other causes of bedwetting.
3. Medication overactive bladder medication
4. DDAVP for pituitary control of bladder

I hope this answers your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care questions or concerns
