Suggest Treatment For Adrenal Insufficiency And Depression

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency over 3 years ago and my symptoms are severe most of the time. They are in order of priority, generalized weakness, fatigue, generalized pain, sweating, dizzyness, depression, palpitations, SOB, and I have also been told I have fibromylagia, microscopic colitis, brain fog (trouble thinking) and osteoarthritis. Each day my symptoms are different but I am lucky if I get a few hours of low-normal functioning a day. I am taking 15mg of cortef in the morning and 10mg in the afternoon and my endocrinologist tells me to double it, "When I get into Trouble." I am asking you for more information as I don't know what to do to live my life. Thank you, Suzanne XXXXXXX YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Split the dose to three times

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern. Sorry to hear about your symptoms. I would like to know your height and weight. did you have any blood works recently? Wanted to know your CBC, ESR, DHEA-S and thyroid profile as well.

Most people feel fine on hydrocortisone 2 times a day. However, some people may need it 3 times a day. You may try spliting the dose like 15 mg early in the morning as soon as you wake up. 10 mg at around 1 pm and 5 mg at 5 pm. It is better not to take after 5 pm.

Yes, your endo is right. In stress, you need to double your dose. ( If Fever > 100 degree etc) .

I must also say that i do not consider all your symptoms are due to adrenal deficiency. Do you consider yourself depressed ? Appreciate a reply

Binu
