Question: I have a calcification on my right big toe, most likely related to gout buildup. It has become, red, swollen, & infected in the last 3 days. I need something stronger than Epsom Salts baths to reduce inflammation.

Brief Answer:
Acute gouty arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern and am sorry for your distress.

Its an acute gouty arthritis based on the history and image you uploaded.

Inflammation has to be countered to prevent erosions and any joint destruction. Indomethacin 50 mg thrice a day should be the starting treatment. Colchicine is also an option given hourly till improvement occurs. Steroids can be given orally or intra articular if the above two aren't tolerated or there is renal impairment.

Let me know if you have any query.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
