Brief Answer:
Antibiotics may temporarily cure

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Your age is 29 and acne are common problem in your age. In my experience, antibiotics do make the acne better. But acne tend to come back. Moreover antibiotics can cause sensitive skin and other side effects.

I will recommend the following:
- Take antibiotics only if acne/folliculitis is bad
- Use soap that are not hard on skin. Especially avoid medicated soaps. Sandal soaps are soothing and better tolerated. They work well on acne prove skin too.
- Improve immunity with regular exercise and hygienic food and cleaner drinking water.
- Avoid applying medicated creams on normal skin. Benzoyl peroxide cream can be applied specifically over the acne/pimple.

Acne/folliculitis are bad to look at. But it does not cause any health issue. So avoid unnecessary medicines.
Also I can better help if you upload a photo of the skin condition.

Hope it clears your doubt. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Folliculitis is hard to treat

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I doubt that increasing the dose of doxycycline will work for your folliculitis as new ones are appearing. Cephalosporins maybe better antibiotic.
New rash appearing means that we have to find the source of the infection.

You have already taken it for long time.

My sincere suggestion is to discontinue the antibiotic and let your body heal itself.
Drinking cleaner water from reverse osmosis technique may be effective as it maybe possible source of infection. Another source maybe altered normal flora which will not normalise with antibiotics. In fact antibiotics may make it worse. Eat organic fruits to help normalise the skin. Upload a photo of the rash so that I am better able to help.

It's actually at the back of my scalp anf beard area under the hair so a pic won't show it much. It would be around 15-20 red bumps with 8-9 pf them having white pus.

Brief Answer:
Topical antibiotic can be taken

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

So its a localised folliculitis in beard and scalp. It is not a bad case. It is only a mild case. Topical antibiotic containing benzoyl peroxide can be applied locally on the rash. Avoid applying any medicines on normal scalp.

Cephalexin 500 mg twice a day for 5 days maybe able to help. Check with your GP if he agrees with me.
But sincere suggestion is to NOT aim at complete eradication. Aim can be to keep it under control because it may recur. Unnecessary antibiotics are to be avoided as it may harm your digestive system.
