Suggest Treatment For A Tick Bite

Posted on Sat, 2 Jul 2016
Question: Hi,
Around the middle of April I noticed a tick bite on me (but not the tick) and about 2 weeks later I came down with what I thought was a flu until I started getting more and more sick and finally put it together. T took 30 days of doxycycline (100 mg. 2x/day)which I responded to right away. Three weeks later, after stopping the medicine, my hands, feet and face started tingling and I started having sweating episodes I started taking azithromycin, 500 mg. once a day. It doesn't seem to be helping much and I'm wondering if I should go back to the doxycycline (even though had a bad reaction when I started it again before trying azithromycin)or start taking amoxicillian with the azithromycin. My current symptoms include tingling in my feet, hands, face and sweating profusely about 3 times a day. I also keep waking up at night. Please advise, thank you.

Brief Answer:
Blood tests required to determine/rule out infectious disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

If you are still having profuse sweating and tingling in feet and hands, then, further blood tests are needed to determine if you have infectious disease, if yes what type in order to correctly treat it in long term.

If you have already done such blood tests, can you please send a copy to me for further evaluation?

With regards to doxycycline, you can't take it forever. Azythromycine I'd am excellent alternative.

Do not compare their effects because they are not used at the same time. Let's say, if you used at the beginning of the disease while azythromycine after improvement.
So, their effects are different in different stages of the disease.

Hope it helped.
