Suggest Treatment For A Hematoma On The Buttocks

default
Posted on Tue, 20 Jun 2017
Question: My 89-yr old stepdad broke his hip 6 months ago but did not rehab after he left the hospital. He now has what he calls a hematoma on his buttock. He has been anemic for years, and I know he takes iron pills. How, without any information from him, can I help to understand what's going on with his health. My mother is 86 and has just moved from my home into assisted living. He was her caregiver before his fall.

Brief Answer:
Get xray done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

In my opinion he needs to get xray of both hips in AP view and send me the report.

I want to see the present condition of joint.

If there is no fall or trauma, I am not sure how hematoma forms?. Its difficult to say.

please also upload his picture where he says hematoma.

For anaemia there are also certain injections which can increase iron load in body, which GP can give him easily.

I hope you got the point and do what I say.

Thanks,

Yes, he has had subsequent falls, maybe that's its cause. He has left FL where I live, and has returned to his home. Hopefully he will see the surgeon again at home. Thank you for your help.
