Brief Answer:
approximately 70% chances are there, however it depends on the stage of stomach malignancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
I've gone through your details and I appreciate your concerns.

Every carcinoma in medical science is classified according to TNM classification in which TNM stands for Tumor, node, and metastases respectively. Prognosis and survival chances of any patient post surgery depend on the extent of metastasis, lymph node involvement. So please mention the stage of the tumor as diagnosed by the radiologist or pathologist.

In general:

If the gastric cancer is diagnosed and treated before metastasis(spreading to other parts of the body), the 5-year survival rate is 70%.

If the cancer has spread to surrounding tissues or organs and/or the regional lymph nodes, the 5-year survival rate is 30%.

If cancer has metastasized to the distant part of the body, the 5-year survival rate is 5%.

Going on your narration as the tumor is just 3mm most likely it falls into category one so chances of survival is 70% for 5 years after surgery.

In case you have any other query please attach the reports of radiology or biopsy here to the reports section, so that I can guide you accordingly.

I wish your friend the best wishes
Thanks.
