Suggest Treatment For UTI

Question: Hi,
I am 33 year old male. Since past two days I am urged to go to urinal quite frequently. While urinating I am getting pain (a kind of burning sensation) along the urinal tract. Immediately I consulted my doctor. He said it might be due to Urinal Tract Infection (UTI) and prescribed Levo 750mg, Meftal and Alkasol syrup for 5 days. I have been using those medicines from 2 days. I had a very little improvement. But the burning sensation is still prominent. I had a sexual intercourse just before the day of the problem. I would like to know whether this may be due to UTI or any abnormality in the prostrate gland. Generally, how much time does it takes for UTI to subsidize. Do I need to really worry about it?

Brief Answer:
Get Investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
See, Urinary XXXXXXX Infection needs to be treated with the appropriate antibiotics. And antibiotics are decided on the basis of Urine Culture report. This is also possible that your infection might not be susceptible to Levofloxacin that has been given to you.
Also this is important to rule out any stones in your urinary tract.
I would advise you to get following:
1. Urine Routine and Microscopy.
2. Urine culture and sensitivity.
3. Ultrasound whole Abdomen.
The results would decide the appropriate line of treatment.
Uncomplicated UTI usually resolves within 7 days if appropriate antibiotic has been given.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
