Suggest Treatment For UTI And Yeast Infection

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Feb 2015
Question: Last week Thursday at the ER they found I have a UTI and a yeast infection, they gave me 1 dose of Diflucan and macrobid for 7 days...Along with that they gave me Tylenol for pain which only took away the pain for a couple of hours, Pain & discomfort went away temporarily but now is back with a vengeance. I don't know what else to do. I will try and take some Tylenol to see if the pain goes away. Last year they found some small fibroids that were causing some pain but pain went away, so I am not sure if this is anything related to fibroids, my urinary bladder or my yeast infection or a bad combination of all. I am tired of taking antibiotics!!

Brief Answer:
Fibroids seem to be the culprit?Needs Ultrasound Confirmation

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

I understand your query and concern.

As per your clinical history ,your symptoms mostly point to underlying fibroids as the cause of pain.

Fibroademomas/fibroids are well known to cause symptoms of spasmodic pain attacks due to their intramuscular location within the uterus in many cases.

You have taken reasonable course of right antibiotics and antifungals against the yeast and UTI.Their relapse as a cause of pain seems quite impossible.

I advise you to have an Ultrasound of the abdomen for accurate assessment of the fibroid morphology and location.

Further management is largely based on test results.

Meanwhile Tylenol can be continued for pain relief.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
