Question: Hi, I have shogrens and have for many years at least that I know about since 1996. I never could find out what to expect until I read an article 2 nights ago about it and I am a nurse -retired- and have many problems. MY question is concerning one section of the article about the lungs and lymphoma. I had pneumonia last New Years Eve and almost died. It came from nowhere and I had no cold, cough, fever, sore throat - I just was fuzzy in my brain and couldn't think straight and balance problems walking into walls. My problem is I am worried about it coming back this year again even though you can not get the same kind. Never had it in my life before. I have many diseases like arthritis, protein in my blood, fibromyalgia and many other things. I am 70 years old and the article was very informative but it made sense even without a cure just keeping as comfortable as possible. I know you can get Cancer with this which with the protein in my blood I am seeing an oncologist as needed and he is watching me closely. I think this is a troublesome disease and am concerned greatly. I am on pain medication for years and don't know what to do. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you XXXXXXX

I can understand your concern.
Lungs are one of the most commonly involved organs in sjogren syndrome.
Pulmonary complications like Pulmonary fibrosis, Pulmonary hypertension, recurrent lung infections, granulomatous inflammation, fibrosing alveolitis, restrictive lung defect, Pulmonary embolism etc.
So better to also consult pulmonologist.

Get done HRCT thorax every yearly.
These are needed for early detection of lung complications.
Hope I have solved your query.
