Suggest Treatment For IBS Post A Colon Removal Surgery

Question: I have had a 3rd of my colon removed in 2010 due to having more and more frequent bout of diverticulitus. As a result of the surgery I acquired IBS. I was one who constantly went to the bathroom and cramped horribly. After a year or so it just disappeared. My bowel movements have been pretty normal, but last night I overeat some Mexican food. I was fine when I woke up but mid day acquired this horrible pain right above the belly button. I did an enema thinking that would give me some relieve. I did have a very slight amount of solid feces. The pain continues. A while ago I have just a small discharge in the commode and it had a horrible smell and when I wiped it was thick as with mucous. I have seen this before when I had IBS. I haven't eaten any solids since this morning. Your opinion please.

I read yoru question and i understand your concern. History of diverticulitis and IBS with colon surgery followed by normal bowel habits triggered by over eating is likely a food poisoning effect and will subside. I would suggest take some antispasmodics, keep the diet soft, BRAT ( banana, rice, applesauce , toast) , green tea, yogurt and peppermint and see if it helps. If the issue persists for more than a week, then consult a doctor and let them run some tests. Diet lifestyle adjustments, avoiding dairy products, spices, alcohol, beverages, soda, processed canned products, tea coffee etc will help.

I am belching a lot which I never do. With the stomach cramps and pain it is now as though I cannot pass gas.
