Question: Based on all of my symptoms and research I think that I might have some type of hiatal hernia.
- Location of the pain - right above the stomach
- Heart jumping / pulputations type feeling (heart issues have been ruled out)
- Frequent Burping
- GERD - ACID Reflux
- ACID medicine not helping

what is the most effective test to diagnose esophageal hiatal hernia?

Hiatal hernia usually remains asymptomatic.
Yes, it may be associated with GERD. But this usually responds to acid suppression medications.
If you want to know whether you have hiatal hernia you can either have a endoscopy or a barium xray done.

To confirm whether you have GERD you can have a 24 hours pH monitoring test done.
