Brief Answer:
Avoid ibuprofen.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Avoid ibuprofen as this can worsen the condition. You can apply heat and take proton pump inhibitor like prilosec (omeprazole). I would suggest a better proton pump inhibitor like rabeprazole and motility enhancer like domperidone. But these are prescription drugs and you can ask your GP for that.

If you having right sided flank tenderness then gallstone disease can be suspected. So better to go for an ultrasound examination of abdomen to rule out that. In such case avoid fatty , oily or spicy foods as these can increase the pain and discomfort.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Better to consult a physician in such case.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

Thank you for your follow up.

If gallstone disease there can be on and off episodes like this. Therapy with proton pump inhibitor and motility agents will be helpful to subside the episodes. You should maintain a fat free and non spicy diet also.

Only in case of acute episodes of severe pain , nausea and vomiting hospitalization will be required and surgical intervention is needed immediately. So better to have a consultation with a physician and ultrasound examination before you fly.

Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Last question please...my discomfort is not pain. It is more like a bad soreness or burn. None of the walk in clinics have an ultrasound. Can blood work detect these issues? I do not want to go the the ER.

Brief Answer:
There is no specific blood tests for gallstone disease.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

A local examination and palpation by your doctor (GP) can give sign of that. There is no specific blood tests for this.

Proton pump inhibitors like rabeprazole , motility enhancers like domperidone and antacids with anesthetics like mucaine gel suspension will be helpful to control your episode.

Avoid spicy foods, Carbonated drinks, coffee, fatty foods like yellow of eggs, cheese, butter and cake also.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
