Question: My Son 6 years is having abdominal pain since 2 days , and the pain would occur every 10 min . Urine report and abdominal scanning shows no problems detected. Stool reports received just now shows cysts (E. coli cysts(+), vegetable cells and starch cells (+), amorphous faecal matter (+)). He is currently taking cyclopam , ofloxacin oral, digene gel. The pain is not reducing with cyclopam and he is having sleep less night.
Could you please suggest what next steps are required as pain is not reducing, is there any problem with ecoli cyst in the stool report.

Brief Answer:
needs nitazoxanide or metronidazole and dilanoxide furoate

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
I have read your childs history and have seen the stool report.
Amoeba cysts are not uncommon.
Nothing alarming.
I usually prescribe nitazoxanide or metronidazole for live forms of amoeba in the gut.
You need to give either of these.
Repeat stool test after this and if still.cysts are present then a 10 day course of dilanoxide furoate is recommended for that.
Continue other medicines as prescribed.
I do hope the pain will settle soon.
If not get your child reexamined by your pediatrician.
Wishing your child good health.
Regards
Dr Arun
