Question: I have a CSF leak steaming from my cribriform plate. This was identified in a CT scan using contrast and .5mm slices. the leak came about as a result of sinus surgery. In may I came down with meningitis (bacterial) and was in the ICU for 4 day and in a regular room for four days. The team of doctor that I had took great care of me while I was in the hospital and saved my life. Though no one would tell me how I came to get the meningitis.. I starterd the med when I came home and it has helped some, but my nose leaks every. Thee doctors now say there is such a small chance you could get it again but this goes against everything that I have read. I am now in a position that I don't want to leave my home because I am afraid I am going to die. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please help

Brief Answer:
Faith on treating doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is always better to seal the CSF leak as soon as possible. What the doctors said was true. Then you should try to get this fixed. By staying home you would not achieve anything but lose your peace of mind with anxiety and fear. That is not the solution with the state.

For your kind information, you are on the right medicine.

I suggests you to meet the Neurosurgeon as soon. Till the time you are at home follow these precautions.
1. Faith on your treating doctor.
2. Head raised position.
3. Avoid sneezing and Head movements.
4. Aseptic condition.

Thanks
