Brief Answer:
Not normal. Needs removal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

Bartholin's cyst is formed when a Bartholin's gland is blocked, causing a fluid-filled cyst to develop. Bartholin's cyst is not an infection, although it can be caused by an infection, inflammation, or physical blockage (mucus or other impediment) to the Bartholin's ducts (tubes which lead from the glands to the vulva).

If infection sets in, the result is a Bartholin's abscess. If the infection is severe or repeated a surgical procedure known as marsupialization may be required to stop further recurrences.
Just popping it or removing the collected blood will not prevent the recurrences and can cause an infection.

I hope this answers your query.

Have you heard of cases where it is literally leaking (before I squeezed) for several months. I am worried because it never hurt. Was inflamedw/no pain. Is squeezing it dangerous?

Brief Answer:
Can cause infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
It can leak for months as it is a gland and the secretions will always come from it. if it is painless then inflammation is less likely. Squeezing can cause an infection and cannot stop the secretions or recurrence.
Hope my answer is helpful.
