Question: please can someone reply... i think i have a hpv oral papilloma of some sort (on my tonsil arch)... which is contributing to the decline of tonsils... i feel no pain .. but it has been there for 10 + months and slighlt changed in colour and gotton bigger..before it was smaller and completely pink.. now there is disclouration....and my tonsils have become more streaky with yellow.. and the right tonisl is more bigger than the other... i am worried that it is tonsil cancer.. or what looks like the start of it ...please can someone shed some light.. and which specialist i should be referred to ... head and neck or ENT? via my GP .. knd regards

Brief Answer:
mucosal cyst. Consult ent specialist.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query.

After seeing the photo, I feel it's just a mucosal cyst; does not look like papilloma or oral cancer.
Unequal size of tonsil is normal - not to worry.

As per the photo your tonsil looks very healthy.
This cyst, until it's not infected, does not need any treatment. You can consult this with your ENT doctor.

Hope my answers have helped you. Pleased to help you further.

hi thank you for replying...what about the white lines in on my tonsil? ..there's no pain etc.. is that normal? ...its not white spots.. just streaks of white lines as if its embedded in the tonsil..very thin like veins but white etc...
also when i spit its kind of got a red tinge... the reason i think i have hpv is because i have it genitally which i passed onto my husband.. and after performing oral sex.. 6 months later that lump thing appeared on my tonsil arch.. and then my tonsils started to change alot... please could you shed some light.. i will be seeing my doctor to get referred

kind regards

Brief Answer:
consult with the doctor .

Detailed Answer:

Thanks for your follow up query.

The white lines on the tonsils are the keratosis lines.
Lesion does not look like papilloma.
As you have genital papilloma, the oral lesion can be confirmed by doing an excisional biopsy.
Hence I would advise you to discuss my views with your doctor and get treated.

tonsil cancer
i am 22 years old and i have one extremely enlarged tonsil, it is about 4 times bigger than the other and it has a strange white dent on it almost like a sore that has been there for a while, the tonsil has gradually been getting bigger over a couple years so i know its not infection, im exceptionally worried that it may be tonsil cancer or tonsil lyphoma, is this the likely cause?

I'm taking my 62 year old father in to Dr in the morning to get the results of PET scan that was taken after being diagnosed with tonsil cancer 2 weeks ago. He has been a smoker and drinker for most of his life. He was an Iron worker before retiring about 2 years ago. Not sure of his height & weight but I'd say he is average. 6' maybe 190lbs I have no idea? He has had some problems with eating because his stomach causes breathing problems when he is full. But no one has been able to find a reason why, so it has been undiagnosed. What do I need to ask the specialist regarding the cancer and treatment options? I need a list of questions I have no idea where to start. We are very overwhelmed with a current family situation that has been going on for the last 9 months and just need the basics to get us through tomorrow so where know where to start and are options to ask about. The specialist will be on vacation for the next 3 weeks and we want to get everything we can from him so we can make a decision by the time he returns so we can start treatment or other options? Please help, I am at a loss and by myself on this!!!!!!! He is single and I am the only person here to support him and I am also single. A lot for us to take on going in to this blind sided.

I am a 57yo post 5 month radiation-chemo from tonsillar cancer. I did amazingly well through treatment but here is my issue. I have had rather bad GERD for about 5 yrs. During treatment I had a sore mouth but probably, because of the restricted diet, for the first time in years I had 3 months of NO sore throat! Once back on a regular diet however, the reflux has come back with avengance_super sore throat in morning. I worry about what this is doing to the radiation site which has obviously been fried. Is it extra sore because of the radiation? How long does soreness last post radiation? Have been to my GP and tried a new PPI with no change. I know that with just a glass of wine I pay an even bigger price. Any advice? My oncology check ups have been good. Josey
