Brief Answer:
DETAILS ARE GIVEN BELOW.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I am trying to solve this problem.

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is caused by Gardnerella vaginalis and other species. It is mostly associated with malodorous or fishy smell vaginal discharge.

Certain predisposing factors should be eliminated like diabetes, hormonal pill or IUD, STD, other foreign objects, concurrent practice of vaginal and anal sex, cervicitis, hormonal imbalance, poor genital hygiene etc.

Abnormal discharge may be aggravated by chemical substance like lubricant or soap/ detergent/ other bath products, causing repeated friction and irritation inside vagina.

TREATMENT: Metronidazole is usually given to treat Bacterial Vaginosis. It is given as single/ multiple dose regimen or vaginal suppository form at bed time.

However, in mixed vaginal infection, AFS kit (combination of Azithromycin, Fluconazole & Secnidazole) is very much effective. Here, sexual partner also needs complete course of treatment. Kindly, consult with your doctor for complete prescription.

Following life style changes are helpful to improve the current condition:

1) Take healthy diet with anti oxidant (like Vit-E/ C, selenium, zinc, lycopene etc) supplements. Drink plenty of water/ juice for better systemic circulation.

2) Do not touch/ wipe out genital area too much. Also avoid inserting objects or douching inside vagina. Hormonal imbalance should be corrected.

3) Maintain genital hygiene with proper shaving & cleaning. Do regular physical exercise by means of jogging/ walking/ treadmill etc.

4) Wear only clean & cotton underwear. Don't wear any tight fitting cloths or pants to avoid repeated friction/ irritation.

5) Avoid using chemical cosmetics or soap or scented bath products. Latex condom is preferred. Avoid sexual intercourse till the problem is completely resolved.

Hope, above said information is sufficient & very much helpful. If you don't have any other query, you can close the discussion.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.
