Question: My daughter has been on 20 mg. Ritalin time release for 20 years. She is 30 years old. She has said that lately she has been having trouble concentrating which has not been the case. My question is can one build up a tolerance for Ritalin and would a higher dosage help or does she need a different medication for her ADHD?

Brief Answer:
increase the dose

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern for your daughter.

Maximum recommended dose of ritalin is 60 mg. With increase in age as well as in weight, increment in dose may be needed in most of the cases. S she is taking since many years tolerance is likely developed and yes increasing her dose would help her. You can ask her treating doctor for increasing the dose.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
