Question: Hello doctor I had oral and vaginal sex at a massage parlor is Singapore .. used a condom . This was one week back, have not had any earlier . Except for a uncomfortable throat and slight irritation ( even earlier I have always had throat problems so cant be sure) and light irritation on tip of penis .. dont have any symptons. I have taken a course of erythromicin for 5 days as a precaution. How long do I wait before taking tests What are the symptoms before I decide to take the tests what are the tests that I should be taking Any advice in general and precautions Any medication i can take as precaution

Brief Answer: Tests Detailed Answer: Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic, I understand that you had sexual intercourse with a stranger, but was protected with a condom. I want to know by oral sex whether you meant that she did a fellatio or you did a cunnilingus? Was the condom on when she did fellatio if that was the case ? Did you notice whether the condom you were wearing was intact and not torn after the intercourse ? You need not take any tests if you have had a protected intercourse using a condom. Kindly get back with the above details so that I can counsel better. Take care.

She did a fellatio with condom and at I XXXXXXX sucked her breasts, there was slight rubbing of dick on her breast & side ways near stomach (before putting on condom) area but NOT the vaginal area. We had sex with her on top. No lip to lip kiss. I did not check if the condom was intact afterwards , hence cannot be sure. The After ejaculation she took off the condom with a wipe and thew it. I did hear rubber rubbing noise , but she had checked and was intact . Did not check myself. Had a hot water bath with soap after the session immediately (after and before the session) .At times with over thinking always feels like like something is happening. Are there any symptoms to watch for ?? and any anti viral med that can be taken as precaution. Have applied candid cream in the genetial area 2-3 times , taken a 5 day erythromicin course

Brief Answer: Precaution Detailed Answer: Hello, Welcome back, The sexual intercourse which you had is safe and it is very unlikely that you have got any STD. There is no need for applying candid cream. You need not take any antivirals now. It was wise not to kiss lip to lip, so the chance of herpes labialis is also nil. Do not worry and move on with your normal life. As a venereologist I need to advice ABC A- abstinence, B- Be faithful, C- use condom. Wish you good health. Take care.

Thanks Doctor, this helps . Just 2 question .. 1. What would be the key symptoms to watch out for before I come back to you again 2. Do you think just as a precaution should I take a std's test after 1-2 weeks, if yes which ones ? Thanks for your help

Brief Answer: Symptom and test Detailed Answer: Hello, Welcome back, 1. Symptoms which you should watch out for will be burning and painful sensation while passing urine along with discharge (gonorrhea and chlamydia- incubation period will be 2-7 days, if contracted you should have got it by now), painful grouped blisters over penis (Herpes), Ulcers over genitalia (syphilis, chancroid and donovaniosis) and small warty growths over pubic area (Genital warts), small pimple like growths with central depression (molluscum contagiosum). If the details of exposure history that you provided is correct, chance of any of this is almost nil, except for warts and molluscum which can come outside the area covered by condom. These are easy to remove even if they develop. 2. You may do an HIV Elisa test baseline and VDRL test now. Repeat HIV Elisa after 3 months to cover for window period. If these are negative then its alright. Hope you got your answer. Take care and wish you good health.

Brief Answer: Reddish pimple Detailed Answer: Hello, Welcome back. Saw the picture you uploaded. It is a boil (Bacterial infection of hair follicle). You may apply an antibiotic cream like T-Bact or Fucidin over the boil thrice a day. It will subside in a few days. There is no need for doing HSV serology as you have not developed any blisters. CBC and ESR can be done as a routine health check up, but not required as a screening test for sexually transmitted infections. Hope this helped, Take care.
