Suggest Schedule Of Rotavirus And HiB Vaccines

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jun 2014
Question: Our daughter is 11 weeks old. She has her vaccination due on 15th may (2.5 months). She was given BCG, OPV 0 and Hep-B1 when she was born. Then she was given DTwP1/DTaP1, Hep-B2 & OPV on her vaccination when she was 1.5 months old from govt hospital. We wish to know how important are other vaccines like Rotavirus and HiB(brain fever)?
Can we plan to give her additional vaccines- Rota virus and Hib from now onwards, since we have missed the first dose of Rotavirus & Hib. If yes, please suggest the schedule also.

Dear Mr XXXXXXX

You can definitely consider taking Hemophilus influenza B vaccine and Rotavirus vaccine.
You can go for Pentavac Sd vaccine ( Penta is 5: It contains DPT+ Hepatitis B + HiB). Other 2 doses due at 10 and 14 weeks that is 2.5 months and 3.5 months be Pentavac SD.
You can also give her rotavirus vaccine. The brand name is Rotarix , given orally 2 doses 1 month apart. You can give it at 2.5 months and 3.5 months.

So its not too late and can be given.

Dear Mr XXXXXXX

I hope only one dose of DPT has been given at 6 weeks. You can now give Pentavac SD at 11 weeks and 2 nd dose at 15 weeks.
Rota virus that is Rotarix can be given now 1st dose at 11 weeks and next dose at 15 weeks. Only 2 doses will suffice.
I hope I have cleared you doubt

Take care
