Suggest Remedy For Vomiting In A 2 Year Old

Question: Dear Dr.My Daughter is 2, and 12Kgs, She is vomiting since morning. She hasn't eaten out, but have the habiti of piking up and biting things.I tried giving domstall..but vomiting is not stopping. Please tell me what to do.

1. Is she vomiting after every feeds ?
2. Is she vomiting significant quantity?
3. What is the color of vomiting?
4. Is she having pain in abdomen or fever?

From the description given so far if the vomiting has not subsided with Domstal then she will require clinical examination and evaluation by her Pediatrician.

yes vomiting after every feed
vomiting whatever she ate almost same quality.
it is indigested food. and lately yellow.
she is not complaining pain.
she started getting fever 3 hours ago
so I brought her to nearby hospital.
now they are giving her IV DNS
gave her taxim.. fever went up 101.8
they gave monocef test dose
emset 1cc injection. she drank a few sips of ors.
for fever calpol 250 syrup they gave 3 ml. I wonder if that's right dose for 12kg.
I hope the antibiotic s given is OK ? when do we know if there is response..?

one of the doctor said breathe rate is high ..

The dosage of Calpol or Paracetamol is right. Dosage is 15 mg per kilogram per dose.
The antibiotic given is also okay.

Following are signs of recovery

1. Decrease in intensity of fever
2. No distension of abdomen
3. Decrease in vomiting or vomiting subsided
4. Complete blood cell count normal
5. Appetite returns back to normal


Do keep me updated about progress. Kindly let me know what are the investigation done

Dear Dr. thanks for your answer.
fever came down to 100 from 102.. and is occasional. calpol once in 6 hrs. make it normal.
vomiting reduced.. almost nil. except yesterday night she woke up from sleep n vomited twice... emset was given hence.
she is able to eat a little .. bit .. 1 idly in the morning ..n no vomiting as of now.
blood test wasn't done again.
doctor said we can go home if confident of feeding her.. please let us know your opinion.
additionaly she complained of irritation in urinary opening.. no rashes r seen.. gave for test.
lot of flatulence. last time rantac syrup helped. can I give her rantac? please tell me dosage if I can.

There is definitely improvement in symptoms of your daughter. You can definitely take your daughter home.

Ensuring good intake of water will help relieve irritation in urinary opening. Do keep me updated if symptoms persist.

Standard dosage of Ranitidine is 3 mg per kilogram per dose twice a day. Please get the right dosage prescribed by her pediatrician. Apologies for late reply as was busy in emergency surgery.
