Question: I have a son that is almost 15. He is extrememly upset. A specialist told us he hit puberty early and his bone age is 16.5. The bones in fingers are fused but wrist is not. Looks like they are getting ready to fuse.
His mother is 5 2 and i am 6 3. He was told he would be around 5 10 or so. The endocron told us he is probably done based on bone age. He is highly upset and i feel guilty as a parent.

His height is 5foot 5 inches. The dr. Said maybe another half inch.
And that hgh would not help at all and really does not want to prescribe.

We have research and found he is probably right. However some dr.s via phone calls and internet have said he could still grow in the long bone plates and hgh would help. All information is based from a wrist x ray and charts.

We are not hoping for a miracle but 2 inches would make a big difference.
1. Can we try hgh and stop if no improvement after 3 or so months?
2. Can something be given to slow closure of plates while on hgh?
3. Will hgh close the plates faster?
4. Any serious side effects if closely monitored?
5. How long would it take to see if hgh is working?

Sorry for all questions but real important for my soon to be 15 year old. It just seems the hgh woul at least give him a chance at two more inches? Thanks
