Suggest Remedy For Tiredness And Headaches While On Motrin

Posted on Tue, 18 Aug 2015
Question: i have been taking 600 mg motrin 2 to 3 times daily every six hours for severe arthritic pain in shoulder, back and neck. I also take 100 mg zoloftt. I find myself extremely tired after mid day and in the evening. and wake up every day with a headache behind my eyes and around my sinus and temples . I am having a bad menopause, ( not like there is a good one) and wake up twice a night with hot flashes and sweats and need to urinate. I had to go off my estrogen patch because I have dense breast. I am having memory issues when i have a hot flash . I also have pain in back of calf, and nervous legs and feet and night. feel restless. Do you think these are medication related from either of these medications and could I go on any other type of hormone relief. I like the anti depressent effect of the zoloft but I wonder if that is what is causing my headaches. I am very tired. thank you XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It is possible

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Zoloft is a ssri drug, a class of drugs which raise the level of a neurotransmitter called serotonin. Now they are often used to prevent headache, but on the other hand being a question of fragile balances of neurotransmitter in the brain, at times they can actually cause the opposite, have headache as a side effect. The percentage of headache as a side effect is reported 20-25%, which is not small. So the answer to your question is yes, it is possible for Zoloft to cause your headache.

Of course that is if the headache started after starting Zoloft and other causes must be considered, looking at the location of your headache sinusitis is an other possible cause.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.
