Brief Answer:
In case of bacterial infection same management will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Sore throat is mostly viral and only symptomatic treatment is necessary initially. You can give paracetamol dry syrup (crocin) according to the weight of your kid for fever. Lot of fluids should be taken. You can give tea with lemon and honey, warm chicken soup with pepper and chewable vitamin c. Viral infection can last for 5 to seven days usually. Proper rest is needed also.

Ibuprofen syrup can be given if pain is more. If there is yellow phlegm or increase in symptoms then it can be taken as signs of bacterial infection and antibiotics will be needed. In such case broad spectrum antibiotics like Azithromycin(azithral) can be given according to the weight of your kid. Azithromycin 200 mg is usually given for 20kg weight.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
