Suggest Remedy For Sore Throat, Joints And Muscle Pain And Rashes

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: Hi. I have been having bouts of flu like symptoms, sore throat, severe joint pain, muscle aches, fatigue and occasional breathlessness, along with this rash. The rash appears in the evening after a hot shower, lasts up to 2 hours, doesn't itch. it occurs on my knees, calves. I get a similar rash on my arm that can appear under flourescent lighting. These rashes last every evening for up to 6 weeks, the other symptoms come and go. A biopsy of one of my arm rashes, done when the rash wasn't in a flare, said spongiosis and perifollicular lymphocytic inflammation with focal perivacular lymphocytes, mild dermal edema, but 'no convincing urticarial dermatitis', possible spongiotic dermatitis. No increase in mast cells. I have no autoimmune blood markers. The dermatologist had no ideas. I am often convinced I have the flu of an evening, then can wake up with it gone. Aggravated by heat, menstruation. The symptoms are getting worse. What do you think? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
It seems like cholinergic urticaria.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that from your history and the pics that you have sent it seems like the lesions are urticarial rashes which in your case are caused by thermogenic stimulation . It is called as cholinergic urticaria .

As they come and go are not permanent it has to be urticaria only .

Plus I would request you to please send your autoimmune markers reports and specially the thyroid profile as your some symptoms signify toward thyroid imbalance features also .

You havent mentioned any where regarding taking antiallergics like cetrizine etc , I would also like to know that history also so that we can understand your problem and help you out in every possible way .

Take care.

Dr. Shruti
