Question: My wife was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2004. One of the maintenance medicines she takes is Carbidopa/Levodopa of course and Azilect. She has an incredibly hard time going to sleep and remaining asleep so her PCP recommended Desyrel and the neurologist did not object. However, she still can't fall asleep. The last time we visited the neurologist he suggested I give her benadryl. What do you all think?

Brief Answer:
Try quietiapine if not improving

Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxxx,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Parkinsons disease is a progressive disease and involves sleep also with time.
Is there any behavioural abnormalities associated with sleep disorders.
You should continue consultation with neurologist for monitoring parkinsons drugs.
For sleep you can try giving quietiapine 25mg in night or stilnoct 12.5 mg in night.
Drug related sleep abnormalities is another possibility.
Please upload full prescription and drug details with doses.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
