Brief Answer:
Lifestyle modification will be beneficial

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.

Slight variation in BP will be seen, I would suggest you to record the BP in the morning at around 7 am, then after take record at interval of 3 hour each.

At a blood pressure of 140/90, I would have suggested lifestyle changes rather that the medicines.

Suggestion like
Losing weight if you are overweight or obese. Quitting smoking. Eating a healthy diet, eating more fruits, vegetables, and low fat dairy products, less saturated and total fat. Reducing the amount of sodium in your diet.
Getting regular aerobic exercise (such as brisk walking at least 30 minutes a day, several days a week).
Limiting alcohol to two drinks a day for men, one drink a day for women.

With these measures, your blood pressure will be controlled.
Hb1Ac of 6.5 is fine.
This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

I used to smoke but have quit recently. I'm a vegetarian, do not drink and play golf 5 days a week. my bp at 7 am today was 90/140 and at 10 am was 100/140. could this sudden change of high bp and less sleep be due to my quitting smoking 4 weeks ago ??

Brief Answer:
Variation in BP might be due to less sleep.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Good to hear from you.
Changes in the blood pressure might be due to stress resulted from less sleep. I would suggest you to relax and record the BP again when you have slept well.
Meanwhile follow the measures as suggested earlier.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
