Suggest Remedy For Sleepiness, Diarrhea And Constipation

default
Posted on Sat, 21 Feb 2015
Question: I am constantly sleepy, bone tired & unmotivated. It began suddenly with an intestinal virus about 3 months ago. Prior to that I had massive amounts of energy & am an elite athlete. I'm on an organic diet but costume dairy but no meat except fish & maybe 2 times a yr crave a small steak. I avoid wheat products & do not use sugar or salt. I feel sleepy constantly, my joints ache all over, I've fainted several times & feel very dizzy upon rising. Now I'm completely unmotivated, procrastinate everything, & just want to sleep constantly. My intestines & stomach are still so sensitive my intestinal virus has returned 3 times in the past 3 months & my last bloodwork was incredibly good with the optimol to highest rating you can get in every category except iron, it was too high. I am on meds that I've been on since 1998 for nerve damage following eight back surgeries. The 7th was a fusion of the L4-5 vertebrae & the 8th was the removal of titanium rods & screws. In addition to all of this sleepiness I have no appetite to speak of & am a size 0. Sometimes I can get to a size 2, if I eat breads (only oat bread) & cheeses or ice cream, which now makes my stomach hurt & causes diarrhea or constipation, it varies. I could sleep 20 hrs a day, my life permitted it. Even if I sleep 12 hrs, after being awake for less than an hr, I'm ready to go back to sleep.

Brief Answer:
Improved hydration and moderate activity on regular basis necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Your overall diet is excellent, continue the same.
2. Being constantly sleepy, bone tired and unmotivated appears to be more of psychological rather than of any disease. The intestinal virus, seems to have affected you and made you weak psychologically.
3. Need to get up and include activity in routine. Even mild activity like walking will increase adrenaline and will stimulate the whole body.
4. Take probiotics to improve your gut bacteria. It will reduce cramps and gas formation. Also include fiber - specifically and directly from fruits and vegetables and avoid constipation.
5. Increase fluid intake through water and fruit juices. Atleast 6-7 liters of fluids per day, will improve hydration status.
6. Also check your calcium levels and thyroid hormone levels. If normal, continue as above. Slow increase in activity. In a month, you will easily walk 4-5 km in mornings. As strength and stamina improves, you will improve psychologically. Need to get out of bed more often.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
