Brief Answer:
pleuritis or muscle injury

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain in the upper body that is worse with taking a deep breath or coughing can be due to pleuritis (inflammation of the pleura which is the lining outside the lung).
Pleuritis can be due to: (1) a simple recent cough/cold
(2) due to trauma,
(3)other infection,
(4)side effect of medication,
(5)autoimmune disease.

In some cases the cause is not known.

Muscle injury can also cause these symptoms to occur so this is also a possibiltiy

There are other causes of this type of pain but they would normally be associated with additional symptoms eg pneumothorax (air escaped from the lung and is in chest cavity), clot in the lungs, related to the heart etc but as mentioned would normally have other complaints

Using the advil is fine. It is normally treated with anti inflammatory drugs, if there is no improvement then you may need stronger medication that would require a prescription from your doctor.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
