Question: My mother has leg cramps with leg movement when she sleeps. What causes it and what can relieve the discomfort?

Leg cramps area usually due to less physical activity, Electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, Vitamin deficiency.

I advise that she give plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Drink 1 to 2 litres of water daily. Apply hot packs to the cramping regions. She can take Tablet Levocarnitine one tablet a day for a month as this reduces the incidence of cramps. Walking briskly for 45 minutes a day will be good exercise to keep the muscles pumping with good blood circulation and prevent cramps when she sleeps.
