Suggest Remedy For Persistent Lower Back And Hip Pain Post Injury

Question: Hi! I need some help with a back issue. I have always been "crooked" for as long as I remember. My hips are not even and I believe I have one leg longer than the other. I never had any issues or pain.

Last January I fell down the stairs on ice and landed with one step across my shoulder blades and another just above my butt. I had back pain for a couple of weeks and it lessens but never went away. I am having pain on a regular basis on my lower back and hips and my legs fall asleep if they are in a hanging position like a tall chair and also when I stand for long periods. It's not going away.

I had my first X-ray for another reason and saw that my spine is twisted. I am a 45 year old female. I don't know if there's something that can be done to aleve the pain but I'm not sure if I need a chiropractor or orthopedist. I don't really believe in chiropractors which makes me hesitate seeing anyone. I'm always afraid they're going to make it worse. What type of Doctor would you recommend for me and what can I do to try to cut the pain.

I can email a copy of the X-ray if that's helpful!

Brief Answer:
You need to consult an orthopedician.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The persistent pain after the fall that you had is likely to be related to a muscle spasm or degenerative changes in the disc. You need to get an MRI scan of the back done for proper diagnosis. Consulting an orthopedician would be most helpful. You need to take pain killers in combination with a good muscle relaxant for pain relief. Doing a hot compress in the area and application of a local analgesic gel available over the counter will help till then.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
