Suggest Remedy For Persistent Chest Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2015
Question: What would cause pretty good amount of pain across chest that cuts through to my back. Between the shoulder blades. Pretty painful. Has lasted all day. Can heartburn do this? I have had a bit of upset stomach today. Nothing horrible. And not really any burning. But the pain is pretty extreme. Had i not had a stress test with good results 2 weeks ago i would probably go to the hospital. Its pretty painful. Can this be heartburn or gas?

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of 3 possibilities
1. gall stones. It needs ultrasound to rule this out.
2. pancreatitis. it is tested by amylase and lipase blood tests.
3. cardiac event. I have put this as third as you have had stress tests. however, if your tests turn up negative, do visit the cardiologist again.

Gastritis can cause similar symptoms but dies not cause radiating pain to back unless you have developed a severe ulcer or perforation. This is evaluated by endoscopy. a simple prescription for tab rabeprazole 20 mg twice a day should help with the gastritis.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal
