Brief Answer:
Symptoms are suggestive of GERD

Detailed Answer:

Dear XXXXXXX Hi
I can understand your concern.

The prescribed medications are effective for stomach acidity related problems such as acid reflux into the food pipe or gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) which you seem to be suffering from.
Sompraz (Esomeprazole) works by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach produces, it should be taken one hour before the meal for its maximum benefits.

Ulgel (Magaldrate/simethicone) suspension is an antacid & antiflatulent combination and is found to be effective for acid indigestion, heartburn, gas, and sour stomach.

Take these medications for at least 4 weeks.
If there is no improvement, I would advise you to undergo certain lab tests such Urea breath test & gastroscopy to detect the infection caused by Helicobacter pylori which could be responsible for the acidity related problem.

Besides medication, I would advise you to

1. Lose body weight if you are over weight
2. Avoid hot and spicy foods, alcohol, smoking & coffee
3. Eat home cooked food
4. Do not sleep immediately after having food, sleep at least 2-3 hours after
5. Do regular exercise.

Hope I could answer your query, however should you need further clarification, I shall be happy to answer your follow up query.

Best regards.
