Question: I hurt the upper part of my instep and shin muscles Monday. There was a little swelling the next day but we were on vacation that had a lot of walking. So I did probably too much of it. This morning i woke up with a rash circling the ankle. The rash seems to be getting bigger and actually is on the other foot a little. I don't think I have anything broken since I was able to walk so much on it. Mostly I'm concerned about the red rash. Should I be?

Brief Answer:
This is most likely ecchymosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I think this is most likely ecchymosis. This is due to extravasation of blood in the tissue. It will soon be disappear once this blood is completely dissolve. I would suggest you following.
1.Hot water fomentation.
2.Good control of blood sugar.
3.Compression bandage to ankle.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.Let me know if their is any other followup questions.
thanks
