Brief Answer:
Do not worry, keep doing regular check up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

That’s great that there is no much worsening of symptoms since last few years.

Till now there is no cure for muscular dystrophy which is a progressive muscular disorder
A newer hope has come with research for dystrophy VBP15, a novel anti-inflammatory and membrane-stabilizer, improves muscular dystrophy without side effects

But you will have to wait till medicine comes after passing all trial.

You may consult physiotherapist for guidance. He may start TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case. If required you can use orthotic supportive for improving walking.
Do not worry ,keep regular check up.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
CPK 1840 is high and much above normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your question,

CPK 1840 is high and much above normal.
Yes in severe cases of muscular dystrophy it is even much higher.
As your son is having mild weakness so levels are also not so high.

You can also confirm diagnosis by a combination of:
CPK-MM levels.
Genetic analysis - can identify most (but not all) of the DMD mutations.
Muscle biopsy - with assay for dystrophin protein.
Clinical observation of muscle strength and function.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.

Could anything else be causing the high levels? He has weakness in his right leg but not the left. Does muscular dystrophy sometimes affect just one side?since he's had this muscle weakness since he was a child is a possible his CPK levels have always been high?finally, since his progression has nit changed much over the years other than weakness in his right leg is it normal to expect that things will continue to progress slowly?

Brief Answer:
Yes CPK levels will always remain high.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Other possibility is cerebral palsy as he has muscle weakness also.

Muscular dystrophy usually involves both limbs. Single limb involvement is not seen in muscular dystrophy.

Yes CPK levels will always remain high.

Disease will progress but very slowly as per your history.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
