Question: My son is 2.3 yrs and he had cold and cough because of which he was vomiting very frequently. Even on an empty stomach he has vomiting sensation and he vomits phlegm. Every time he vomits there is lots of phlegm. So doctor has given him junior lanzol 15, aerodil expectorant and alerts at night. But on giving these medications his appetite is completely gone. He refuses to take even a sip of the water. If forced he vomits everything.Isthe medication correct? Which medicine is causing his loss of appetite? Is there any alternative which can increase his appetite?

Brief Answer:
Hold Aerodil

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. The symptoms are suggestive of viral illness. Aerodil can cause increase in gastritis and vomiting. So, I would recommend you to hold it and continue with Lanzol junior and Alerid. If cough and congestion is severe then also start with Syp. Maxtra or
T minic.

Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care

Thanks for your reply doctor. Doc has given aerodil bcos he has chest congestion..lot of phlegm in his chest which comes out every time he vomits. So is it ok to continue aerodil? And also will Junior lanzol cause loss of appetite..is it ok to leave the child without having anything? Will it cause dehydration? He is not even taking a sip of water and if forced he vomits.. Pls help..I m very much worried

Brief Answer:
Give Asthalin or bricanyl syrup for chest congestion

Detailed Answer:
Hi
You may use Syp. Asthalin or Syp. Bricanyl ( as per weight) for chest congestion if present. Change to Syp. Digene instead of Lanzol junior for associated gastritis. Offer regular feeds and plenty of fluids.
You may give Syp. Bevon (5 ml once daily) to boost his appetite.

Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
