Question: First outbreak of genital herpes just over two weeks ago. (At least I assume so because my GF has it. )Since then the lesions have healed on my penis head but now the penis head feels dry, leathery, itchy and sore. There are also new itchy bumps forming down the shaft to the scrotum of my penis. I pop them and they heal. no pain just itchy. clear fluid comes out but they aren't like the ones that were on the head which took awhile to heal. Also my skin on my stomach and back and thighs have also gotten very itchy.

Brief Answer:
Strongly recommend anti-viral medications for both of you

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The best treatment advise for your right now would be anti-viral medication (e.g. acyclovir), which will help treat the sores, and the main condition itself.

I would not only recommend this for you but also for your GF, as you both need treatment before you can continue your sexual life. Please also visit a clinic first and get diagnosed, and then speak to your doctor to initiate treatment. Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Medication will treat symptoms as well as condition

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.

What I meant by that statement was that the anti-viral medications will help the sores (which is a symptom), and also the condition causing the symptoms as well (most likely to be herpes).

There are a few conditions that may present with a few symptoms that might look like yours, but not so accurately. Along with this, the fact that your partner also has diagnosed herpes, makes herpes the most likely cause.

Hope this helps sir. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

My son is being seen by a doctor for infection in his foreskin and has been referred for a circumcision. My partner and I both have genital herpes and we have noticed small lumps on my son s penis under the foreskin. We are terrified that he has contracted the disease..how is it best to tell?

My husband has genital herpes and was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. He received 1 treatment of chemotherapy and has run a fever everyday for about 2 weeks. About five days after his treatment he noticed discomfort of the scrotum. It was red on both sides and had areas of what appeared to be pus filled lesions. Could this be a side effect of the chemo or is this an outbreak. He is taking valtrex and applying a cream. It seems to be improving slowly. Should he tell his oncologist about the herpes. Will it effect his treatments and does chemotherapy increase the severity of outbreaks.

Why would a person have symptoms of genital herpes over 31 years ago, and when tested at that time and having cultures done, over and over again coming back negative, and herpes testing done annually and coming out negative, get currently diagnosed with HSV-2 recently?

I have had a painless swollen lymph node for a few months under my right jaw. I have had blood test run showing no serious infections, normal white blood cells and normal lymph. I also had an ultrasound that showed beneign characteristics of the lymph node. Also I just noticed what I believe is a lymph node behind my left ear that appears to be a little swollen but not as much as the one under my right jaw. I feel normal otherwise. I should also note that I was diagnosed with genital herpes about 18 years ago, but have never had an outbreak since the initial one. The only medication I am on is progesterone. My doctor feels that it is nothing serious, but has ordered a biopsy to completely rule out cancer. I'm just curious for another medical expert opinion on if it sounds like it could be cancer or something else.

Ok, I asked about this yesterday in the main forum. After thinking about it and being a little more clear headed, I decided to put it here in the "ask a specialist." Most of my question yesterday went unanswered. What was answered was very short...
