Suggest Remedy For Intense Pain In Tongue And Head Caused By Trismus Post An Injury

Posted on Mon, 21 Dec 2015
Question: Tonight I was playing with my dog. I stuck out my tongue at him while my jaw was in a weird way. I felt a pop or pull feeling. I had this really intense pain in my head. Through the top, behind my nose, through the back of my head. It hurt really badly. I'd say about a 9-10 on the pain scale. Well that went away. Now my tongue hurts and so does my throat. My tongue is kind of swollen, but not to the point it's cutting off my air flow. It hurts to swallow, yawn or anything that requires the muscles in the tonuge to move. My head it starting to bother me. It also hurts to talk.

Brief Answer:
tablet Diclofenac 50 mg twice daily, visit doctor for examination

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your query.
It is difficult to diagnose without examination. You have to get yourself examined.

It might be due to stretching of some muscle associated with TM joint, might have resulted in the pain. Swollen tongue might be result of pulling of the muscle of the tongue.

It is difficult to provide you with specific advice without examination, presently I would suggest you gargle XXXXXXX warm water. And take over the counter analgesic like tablet diclofenac 50 mg twice daily for two days. But to know the exact cause you have to visit the doctor.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
