Posted on Thu, 26 Nov 2015
Question: I had a couple of foot injuries at football recently, when I go to stand after my feet being raised they hurt for a while. It takes a good few steps for them to loosing off/feel better. It also happens when getting out from bed. The main sympton I wonder if connected is the feeling of a strong pulse in both legs at times, is this related to the injury?

I am slim build, 32 yo, physically active as play football & golf, suffer from anxiety & diet is not the best at times.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to plantar fasciitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The feeling of pain in the feet specially after getting up in the morning is likely to be related to plantar fasciitis or fatigue.
The feeling of strong pulse can be a physiological variation. A short term rest and oral anti inflammatory drugs are required to take care of the inflammation.
To help the pain, ice the area immediately after getting up in the morning. You can use either a store-bought cold pack or a frozen wet towel. Ice for 10 or 15 minutes. To reduce inflammation, take an aspirin or ibuprofen at mealtime.

A 4-inch wide Crepe bandage wrapped around the region also helps reduce discomfort.
Calf and anterior (front of) leg stretching and strengthening addresses the biomechanical problems and reduces pain.
Pay careful attention to selecting the correct running shoe based upon the foot type (flexible pronator vs. rigid supinator). This is extremely important. In selected cases, shoe inserts (orthotics) may be necessary.
I hope this answers your query.

The pain is more in the upper part of the foot, not underneath.

Is a strong pulse in both legs possible due to injuries like this where two feet are sore?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to stress on tendons.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The pain in the upper part of the foot can be due to stress on the tendons. The strong pulse can be due to inflammation in the feet that is causing the pain. Doing hot compress and taking mild pain killer should help.
Hope my answer is helpful.
