Brief Answer:
GERD

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

It looks like you have symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease in addition to gastritis.
Nexium takes care of both gastritis and GERD.

In addition lifestyle/dietary changes are also important.
- Weight reduction if obese
- Avoid alcohol and smoking ( If you have these habits).
- Avoid coffee, citrus, chocolates, fatty food, tomatoes
- Avoid eating full stomach. Eat multiple smaller meals.

I presume you are not an asthmatic.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

I'm not asthmatic , I am a smoker and 25 pounds over weight, the biggest problem I have is it seems to happen when I drive. could that position intensify the gas/ indigestion?

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
No, the position does not worsen the symptoms.
But if you are wearing tight fitting clothes and the belt is tight, then the symptoms may worsen in that position.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.
